Biography of Phraya Boranrajathanin (Bhorn Tejagupta)


 

     Phraya Boranrajathanin (Bhorn Tejagupta)was born on February 28,1872.
He had an opportunity to study with Phraya Si Sunthonwohan (Noi Acharayangkun) during his childhood before his father sent him to serve under H.R.H. Prince DamrongRajanubhab to train for civil service and gain various branches of knowledge. In 1885 he was sent to Phra Tamnak Suan Kularb School. After his graduation from the school he served as a civil servant under the Department of Education, the Ministry of Public Instruction, and the Ministry of Finance respectively. Later he was transferred to serve under the Ministry of Interior and was eventually appointed as a Provincial Administration Commissioner of the Monthon Ayutthaya in 1896, which was a starting point on his study of history and archaeology of Ayutthaya.

     In 1906 he was promoted to Superintendent Commissioner (Samuha Thesaphiban) of Monthon Krung Kao and was finally bestowed a noble title of “Phraya Boranrajathanin” in 1912.  Upon reaching 58 years of age, he was granted the royal permission to resign from the Superintendent Commissioner post. After his retirement, Phraya Boranrajathanin was still active in other key roles, namely the Committee of the Royal Society of Literature and Vice President of the Archaeology Section, the Royal Society of Thailand. Phraya Boranrajathanin (Bhorn Tejagupta) passed away on April 30, 1936.
